12/17/2012.2: Kids and iPads

December 17, 2012

The Huffington Post has an article which poses the question, what age is appropriate for kids to have a “tablet”?

I’d say that the age is when kids start school. In an age where cats can use iPads, we need to ignore the learning curve that comes with PCs and Macs. There is no learning curve to iOS devices and with that learning requirement nonexistent, parents should consider giving their kid an iPad when they begin trusting him or her to be independent.

In my mind, that’s 1st grade or even kindergarten. If a kid can be trusted to develop relationships, he or she can be trusted to use an iPad under parental supervision at a bare minimum.
